I didn't move to Denmark expecting to become a sales trainee.
But sometimes the biggest opportunities are the ones you never planned for.
With a background in Slavic and Russian studies and a master's degree in shipping, I originally applied for a shipping trainee role at ESS-FOOD. It felt like the obvious choice. But during the process, my former manager saw a stronger fit in my sales experience and encouraged me to choose the EFIT trainee program instead.
Starting something new in a foreign county was far from easy. I arrived without knowing anyone, trying to build a life from scratch while searching for the right opportunity. When ESS-FOOD called, it felt like a turning point - not just professionally, but personally too.
What makes the trainee program special is that you're never standing on the sidelines. From day one, you are part of the business. You learn by doing, by taking responsibility, and by stepping into challenges that push you forward.
In the beginning, you support others. Then suddenly, you realise you're building something of your own.
When I started, I had no customers and no experience in the meat industry. Today, I have clients who trust me and reach out when they need support. That development is something I'm deeply proud of.
The trainee journey has shaped me in more ways than I expected. It has strengthened my confidence, taught me resilience, and shown me the importance of adaptability - because no two customers, cultures, or markets are ever the same.
One milestone that means a lot to me is opening the Greek market for ESS-FOOD. Seeing opportunities where none existed before - and turning them into partnerships - is incredibly motivating. It reminds me how much growth can happen when someone believes in your potential early on.
I's competitive by nature, mostly with myself. I always want to improve, to learn more, and to take the next step. And that's exactly what the trainee program allows you to do - evolve into a role with real responsibility while discovering your own strengths along the way.
Although my traineeship is coming to an end, I already feel like a full member of the team.
Maybe that's the true essence of EFIT.
You don't just train for the business.
You become part of it.
